Day 4 of the Olympic Trials continued the great success of NTSC
swimmers in Omaha. Max Grodecki broke his own team record in
the 100 Free with a final time of 50.52. This swim was good
for 38th place over all and saw Max move up 33 spots from his
original seed. Reed Malone also competed in the 100 Free, his
fourth event overall, and finished in 51.75.
After prelims, both Jack Mangan and Sam Metz swam in the 100
Free time trials. Jack swam a personal best of 52.83 while
Sam finished in 51.62.
At finals tonight, the swimmers were able to see Michael Phelps
win the 200 Fly in the fastest time in the world this year, as well
as finals in the women's 200 Free and 200 IM.
After finals, parents and swimmers went to dinner together to
celebrate Jack's 17th birthday over a great steak dinner at Piccolo
Pete's. There is good steak in Omaha!
Tomorrow NTSC has a day off from competition and all the
swimmers are looking forward to an outing to see the movie
"Ted". I have been assured it is going to be hilarious!
I am doubtful. NTSC is back in the pool competing this
weekend, so look for our next update Saturday night.
