It was a record setting day for New Trier Swim Club at the 2012
Olympic Trials. Besides two new team records, NTSC's six
swimmers have now swim more events in this trials than any previous
NTSC set of qualifiers, and we are only through day 2!
Jack Mangan led the way today with a record 57.14 in the 100
Backstroke. Jack came in to the event seeded 117th, and his
record breaking swim moved him up to 58th place. Max Grodecki
went 57.49 to finish 74th in that event.
NTSC's second record was set by Sam Metz in the 200
Freestyle. Sam swam to 30th place in the event with is time
of 1:50.55. Reed Malone also swam the 200 Free, finishing in
43rd place with a time of 1:51.20. Our day was rounded out
with Samantha James and Riley Hayward going 1:05.91 and 1:13.18 in
the 100 Back and 100 Breast respectively.
So far, NTSC has had eight individual swims, with five more to
come later in the week.
All of the swimmers got to enjoy the night's finals, seeing
three more swimmers added to the Olympic Team. Coming up
tomorrow, Reed Malone with carry the NTSC banner in the 200
Butterfly.
